Situated on Lake Lugano in southern Switzerland, Lugano
is the capital of the Italian speaking canton of
Ticino. Seized by the Swiss in 1512 and has steadfastly refused to revert
to Italy ever since. It is an eclectic mix of traditional Swiss values and
laid-back Latin influences.
